Marbled Cocoa Squares

Cheese Mixture
1 cup small curd cottage cheese
1 egg
¼ cup sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp vanilla
½ cup mini chocolate chips
Cake
1 cup flour
¾ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
⅔ cup sugar
¼ cup cocoa
¼ cup melted butter
2 eggs
¼ cup milk
½ tsp vanilla
Cheese Mixture
1Blend cottage cheese with remaining ingredients, set aside.
Cake
2Blend cottage cheese with remaining ingredients, set aside.
3Combine butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla; add to dry ingredients. Beat 2-3 minutes.
4Pour half of the batter into buttered 8-inch square pan; spread evenly.
5Top with Cheese Mixture, then remaining cake batter in dollops. Draw knife or spoon through layers to give a marbled effect.
6Bake 30-40 minutes in a 350-degree oven. Test multiple areas to check for doneness, as cheese mixture may make some areas take longer to bake.
7Cut into squares and serve warm or cold.
