Tomato Cocktail

Yields1 Serving

 10 qts tomatoes, cut into small pieces
 1 cup sugar
 ½ cup salt
 1 tsp black pepper
 1 ½ cups chopped celery
 5 medium-sized onions, shredded
 3 bay leaves
 14 whole cloves
 1 cup vinegar
 1 cup lemon juice

Mix all together and simmer one hour, strain. Add vinegar and lemon juice. Bring to a boil and can.
Yield: 8 quarts
