It’s Friday and this week we are going to make a dragon.
This is Rocky Green Dragon!
- 1 oz gin
- ¾ oz green Chartreuse
- ¾ oz cognac
- Shake extremely well with ice. Strain over rocks in prechilled old-fashioned glass. Sip, don't gulp!
If you notice in the picture, our “rocks” in the glass melted. That’s what happens when you try to make drinks, but you have kids who won’t stay in bed to let you drink said drinks!
This week’s drink is from Playboy’s Bar Guide from 1971, which is actually a pretty good bar guide. Lots of interesting drinks and some funny drink descriptions. I would recommend picking it up if you ever come across it!
“I’ll bet it’s strong. I can smell it from here.”
“It’s not just that. So..much..chartreuse…can’t taste anything else.”
The Verdict: Overwhelming
From The Tasting Notes –
From the description we knew this was going to be strong going into it, but it wasn’t really a good kind of strong. The taste of Chartreuse is really overwhelming in this drink. Not really the best use of cognac, since you can’t even really taste it. Would only recommend this drink if you really like Chartreuse, and even then maybe you would just be better off drinking it alone and not wasting the cognac.
