Reader’s Easter Lamb Cake Gallery for 2016 – With Giveaway Winners And A Few Rabbits!

Posted on Apr 6 2016 - 3:17am by RetroRuth

It was a great Easter! Thank you so very, very much to everyone who visited the blog, used the recipes, shared your recipes, commented, sent an email and especially those who submitted their lamb cake or bunny cake for this year’s gallery.  Every year I am thrilled by the excitement and friendliness and just plain cake-making fun that Easter brings out in all of us. And I had an extra thrill this year when I was mentioned in a lamb cake post on The Kitchn, so overall it was a great year for the lambs!  I hope you enjoy this year’s gallery (there are some great ones!), but first let’s announce some winners!

The winners of the random draw for some vintage cookbooks are:

So here’s the gallery for 2016, and I hope you guys enjoy it. If you are curious, you can re-visit the galleries from 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012 as well. Happy Easter!

What happened with the blue-eyed lamb?

I’ve just discovered this blog and am going through the archives. I mad the ham and cheese casserole with a few substitutions because I have a crap-ton of ham to use up! It’s quite good with mushroom soup and swiss cheese.

Ham and tomato together is a non-starter with me, anyway and I also needed a less salty cheese because my (spiral-sliced, like I always buy) ham is super salty for some reason.

According to the creator, it is called “Silence of the Lambs Cake”. It was her test lamb, and she accidentally used food coloring instead of her gel tube when she put on the eyes. 🙂
