I love everything retro, vintage, mid-century, kitsch and all things atomic! A 21st century housewife just trying to fit in...to the 50's. I have a passion for vintage recipes and an enormous vintage cookbook collection that I keep testing, even though by now I should know better. Equally effective at Halloween.

This is an example of what I find so charming about old ads and cookbooks. It looks as if it was made by a real person rather than foodstyled within an inch of its life. It doesn’t give very specific directions, either. Readers are supposed to be able to figure out cooking times for the mini cakes, decoration style, etc. based on their own experience.

SO cute. I just love knowing that you can bake a cake in a coffee can.

Oh man, back when you could actually bake in shortening cans! Crisco’s been in fiber cans (the ones that say “DO NOT PUT HOT OIL IN CAN” on them) since I was a kid, and I’m not sure if any other brands use metal cans anymore, either.
