I love everything retro, vintage, mid-century, kitsch and all things atomic! A 21st century housewife just trying to fit in...to the 50's. I have a passion for vintage recipes and an enormous vintage cookbook collection that I keep testing, even though by now I should know better. When I was in Home Ec class in the the early 70′s (they were still teaching us to be homemakers!) we learned how to make a similar dessert – “Cherry Delight”. I still make it once in a blue moon. Pretty much the same recipe with the addition of Cherry Pie filling.

This was a ubiquitous recipe in the 70s. Cool whip was the newest thing.

    It doesn’t look awful. Huh.

I loathed Cool Whip when it was new and I loathe it now. It leaves my mouth feel as if it were coated in plastic. I remember my mother making some of those Cool Whip recipes in my youth but cheating and using real whipped cream.

These look good. Except I’d leave out the lemon juice. I loathe citrus.
