I have to say that that is about the most disgusting picture of food that is not that appetizing sounding and looking that you have ever posted!. I am sure back then it was baby shrimp in the can too that was mostly used….at least where I came from!

Oh my dear Lord! No wonder people were smaller back then…they were too afraid to eat!!!

While the picture is an abomination, this actually sounds pretty good to me!

The components on their own seem ok…

That looks awful, but the recipe sounds good. I would drop the sugar though.

Well, this brought back memories–my mom actually made the carrot-apple salad, listed just under the shrimp-parfait one when I was a kid. I remember eating it! I didn’t care for it though. Her rice pudding was much better.

Interesting! Thanks for letting us know about the salad, and glad we could bring back some memories!

I remember many years ago my aunt got one of the first food processors on the market, it was very big, very expensive! She shredded carrots and apples, tossed them with fresh lemon juice and sugar (no cream) – OMG it was heavenly, we ate a trough of the stuff!
